BOSTON, Mass. -- A total 110 University of Maine student-athletes have been named to the 2004-05 America East Winter/Spring Academic Honor Roll for earning grade point averages of 3.0 or better. Fifty-eight Black Bears were named to the America East Commissioner's Honor Roll, acknowledging grade-point averages of 3.5 or higher during the most recent athletic season.

Maine had the second highest percentage of student-athletes named to the America East Honor Roll with 56.1 of the student-athletes receiving honors. The Black Bears had 58 percent of student-athletes named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll. Maine had 20 women's swimming and diving student-athletes named and 15 softball players which led America East for their respective sports.

The student-athletes were members of teams in the championship sports which America East offered in the winter and spring seasons including baseball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's track and field (both indoor and outdoor), softball and men's and women's swimming and diving. Member institutions of America East for the 2004-05 season include Albany, Binghamton, Boston University, Hartford, Maine, UMBC, New Hampshire, Northeastern, Stony Brook and Vermont.
