Former Maine and NFL veteran wide receiver Phil McGeoghan enters his first season on the Maine coaching staff in 2007. He will work with the offense, including assisting with the wide receivers and tight ends.

McGeoghan transferred to Maine from Boston University following the 1997 season and played three seasons for the Black Bears from 1998-2000. He ranks in the top five in two career categories at Maine, including yards (4th; 2,343) and receptions (5th; 151). He earned the 1999 Jack Butterfield Offensive Player-of-the-Year Award, and won the 2000 Woody Carville Senior Achievement Award. McGeoghan was signed as a rookie free agent by the New York Jets in the Spring of 2001 and played four seasons in the NFL, including stints with the Denver Broncos, Oakland Raiders, New York Jets and New Orleans Saints.

A standout in the classroom, McGeoghan was named to several Academic All-America teams and won the Dean Smith Award. He resides in Orono.
